Dr Ashish Rana MD(India), MRCPsych(UK), FRANZCP is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a special interest in Mood, Anxiety, Psychosis, PTSD, ADHD and Adolescent mental health disorders. He is performing Transcranial Magnetic stimulation (TMS) for treatment resistant depression.

Dr Rana completed his undergraduate medical studies and Doctorate of Medicine in Psychiatry in India. He relocated to the United Kingdom and completed six years of specialist training in Psychiatry, gaining his membership of The Royal College of Psychiatrists, London (MRCPsych,UK) in 2008.

In 2012, he completed the Royal College of Psychiatry Higher Specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry with additional endorsement in Rehabilitation Psychiatry. Subsequent to this, he worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the National Health Services(UK) and achieved the Best Trainee award from the prestigious Yorkshire Deanery.

In 2016, Dr Rana moved to Mackay as Consultant Psychiatrist at the Mackay Base Hospital, where he achieved his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists(RANZCP). Dr Rana is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the James Cook University (JCU) and is working on a number of research projects with psychiatry trainees.

In addition to helping patients resolve symptoms, Dr Rana’s goal is to enable his patients to achieve the best recovery and functioning in their daily life. He believes in patient friendly care and is easily accessible and approachable.

Dr Rana is providing private clinical services consulting at Mackay Private Hospital since May 2018. He provides psychiatric inpatient care as well for patients admitted under his care at Mackay Private Hospital.

Dr Rana is available for outpatient clinics on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons only 12:30pm-5:00pm.
